Bet on UFC 124 - Getting inside GSP vs Koscheck

UFC Betting Online: Welterweight kingpin and consensus number one pound-for-pound fighter Georges St-Pierre will make his fifth title defense against Josh Koscheck, a perennial contender and perhaps the UFC's biggest villain. Seriously, fans hate this ass. And not because he still dyes his hair blonde at 33 years old. To bet on UFC 124, remember that it goes down on December 11, 2010 at the Bell Center in Montreal, Quebec -- GSP's backyard. Undercard fights start at 10 p.m. EST and the fight will be available on Pay-Per-View.

Welterweight Title Fight: Georges St-Pierre -440 (20-2; 8 KOs, 5 SUBs) vs. Josh Koscheck +340 (15-4; 5 KOs, 4 SUBs)

GSP and KOS fought over three years ago in a non-title fight that saw the French-Canadian win a unanimous decision. The biggest takeaway from that fight was that GSP -- known mainly as a flashy kickboxer -- outwrestled Koscheck, a decorated former NCAA Division I wrestler.

Both fighters have vastly improved since that fight, with Georges St-Pierre becoming the most dominant wrestler in MMA and Koscheck finding knockout power in his overhand right. It'll be very interesting to see whether the champion will look to wrestle the challenger, who is still one of the best wrestlers in the division.

Although GSP hasn't really used his kickboxing in what seems like ages, he's been training with Freddi Roach and he still has Thai boxing guri Kru Phil Nurse in his corner. Koscheck has a brutal right hand, good leg kicks and little else. St. Pierre owns the advantage on both the feet and the mat, and Koscheck's only real hope is to land a big punch that puts GSP's lights out. I wouldn't bet on it.

Bet on UFC 124: GSP by decision

Heavyweight bout: Stefan Struve -165 (20-4; 4 KOs, 14 SUBs) vs. Sean McCorkle +135 (10-0; 4 KOs, 5 SUBs)

I am SHOCKED to see Stefan Struve as the favorite here. McCorkle made his UFC debut in September against Mark Hunt and he looked awesome in scoring a victory with an armbar just over a minute into the first round. Even more impressive was his physical build -- McCorkle stood 6'7, 263 pounds, and looked RIPPED.

Stefan Struve is favored simply because he's a better-known fighter. I've seen "Skyscraper" fight several times, and he hasn't impressed me once. In fact, I feel like he's just an oddity. Sure, at 6'11 the dude is tall, but that's about it. He's got good jiu-jitsu, mainly because he's got long limbs, but he does not have the power of a heavyweight. And with his narrow, lanky-ass frame, he can get put on the ground and held there by sub-par wrestlers.

I can go on and on about how overrated Struve is, but I won't. I fully expect him to get put on his back and pounded out by the much more powerful McCorkle, who looked pretty spry and athletic at his size. His only drawback is that already 34, but with only 10 pro fights on his resume, he really doesn't have many miles on his body.

Bet on UFC 124 Like I'm said, I'm shocked to see McCorkle as an underdog. This is a fantastic opportunity to capitalize on his +135 status. Bet McCorkle by TKO in the second round.
