With about 6 weeks to go before the kickoff of the November 5 Breeders’ Cup at Churchill Downs, astute Online Horse Racing players can start right now gathering the information necessary to nail down some winners and make some profitable wagers.
I was lucky enough to set the morning line for the very first Breeders Cup that was held in 1984 at Hollywood Park and it seems like just yesterday that I witnessed history in person at the track that day.
Horse Racing fans know the will Breeders Cup menu this year starts with 7 BC events carded Friday November 6 and 8 on Saturday climaxing with the Classic.
Let’s examine the races this year as they that are first scheduled for Friday as the official program location of the events have not been decided. The Juvenile Sprint commences the action.
A new race, the Juvenile Sprint, is scheduled to start this year’s festivities so this is new territory for all.
It’s tough to figure at this point whether the juvenile leaders on both coasts, Drill in the West and Currency Swap in the East, will go for either the Juvenile Sprint at 6 furlongs or stretch out to the Juvenile itself at a mile and a 16th but let’s examine the two stars and leave it at that for now.
Drill hFuturityad a legit excuse when off slow in his debut but he has won his next pair including this last, the Del Mar . He broke his maiden while getting tired, then posted a career best 90 Beyer drawing away in the Futurity despite racing wide, being bumped hard late and being whipless in the stretch.
The blood is there as his winning dam is kin to Magic Storm, a Grade 2 winner at 9 furlongs who won nearly $250,000.
Creative Cause was the 4-5 chalk in the Futurity, was forced to steady but he also has a right to mature with grace as his dam Dream of Summer was a Grade 1 winner and a millionaire.
Currency Swap freaked in his debut by 6 lengths with a 98 Beyer, and then handled the slop taking the Hopeful when inching away at the end.
Trinniberg, a rank longshot at 68-1 in the Hopeful, was a clear second and may have some upside to him as his winning dam is kin to a pair that banked 6 figures in their careers.
If you’re betting on horses, stay tuned for more updates on this race as the field starts to solidify in the following weeks.
Remember, now is the time to lay the groundwork for what one can build on as the Breeders Cup Day is finally near.
